Creating Custom Tags For Play-Based Sports

If figuring out a game plan for an upcoming match is half the battle, knowing where and how to find the information needed to prepare your team is the other half.  VidSwap's custom tagging options allow you to pinpoint any game event for further review, and search through individual games (or entire seasons) for those instances at the push of a button.  Best of all, any custom tag you create will not be shared, even if you send your game to another party outside of your team: all your custom tags will remain private.

CREATING CUSTOM TAGS

In play-based sports, the first step in creating your custom tags is taken in the SETTINGS application:

When you click on the 'Add Tag' button, you will be given the option to select the type of tag you're looking to add:

We give you five options for tag types: Text, Number, List, Athlete Roster, and Team Name.  We'll go into more detail on each of these below.

TEXT:

A 'Text' tag will allow you to add comments, critiques, etc. to the clip(s) of your choice.  Choose a name for your tag, save it, and it will appear on your list of custom tags.  In your filter, when you search through your 'Text' tags, you will be able to search for any single word or phrase you assign to your clip (for more information, see this article here).

NUMBER:

Similar to a 'Text' tag, a 'Number' tag will allow you to assign a number to the clip. Choose a name for your tag, save it, and it will appear on your list of custom tags.  In your filter, when you search through your 'Number' tags, you will be able to search for values greater than, less than, or equal to the number you assign to your clip (for more information, see this article here).

LIST:

This is the type of tag you will probably use 90% of the time.  A 'List' tag will allow you to assign categories or an organizational 'structure' to a clip.  For instance, if you wanted to tag and track the direction a running back would take the ball on a handoff, you might create a tag like this:

You can add as many options as you'd like to your tag (simply press 'Add Item' to add each one).  Always be sure to leave a 'blank' item as a placeholder, which will allow you to escape out of assigning a tag, if necessary.  In your filter, you will be able to search for any item you add to your clip(s) (for more information, see this article here). Always be sure to save your work.

ATHLETE ROSTER:

An 'Athlete Roster' tag will allow you to assign any athlete on your roster to the clip.  In your filter, when you search through your 'Athlete Roster' tags, you will be able to pull up any clip designated by a chosen roster member (for more information, see this article here).

TEAM NAMES:

Similar to an 'Athlete Roster' tag, a 'Team Name' tag will allow you to assign either your team or the opposing team to the clip.  In your filter, when you search through your 'Team Name' tags, you will be able to pull up any clip designated by a team name (for more information, see this article here).

THE NEXT STEP...:

The next step in using your newly created custom tags is to make them visible in your filters and game 'Grid View'.  You do this by configuring your 'Grid View'.  Please see our help article on this topic here.
